STAINLESS STEEL

Unlike general-purpose steel (AISI 304), steel AISI 316 as selected by Beta provides high resistance to weathering as well as to saline corrosion and salt and organic acid corrosion. Stainless steel AISI 316 has a high content of: • Chromium (it forms a surface film which protects the underlying material from oxidation) • Molybdenum (it increases corrosion resistance of chlorides, e.g. sea water and defrosting products) • Nickel (it allows the steel frame to be kept stable in time) In addition, the low carbon content makes this steel more resistant to intergranular corrosion (a particular type of corrosion that can hardly be detected on the surface of the accessory and can trigger sudden breaks in corrosive environments). Steel AISI 316 can boast some additional hallmarks: it is easy to clean, has an excellent hygienic coefficient, nonmagnetic properties, and good mechanical performance at low temperatures. No doubt uniform, constant quality was, and still is, the main reliability factor of Robur’s stainless steel products, as it ensures the same performance levels are achieved for all the production batches – yesterday as today and tomorrow.
