Handles made from hickory wood Hickory is a type of wood with excellent properties, which suit hammer handles perfectly. Its long fibre structure absorbs vibration and makes it extremely resistant to breakage. In the unlikely event that some fibres should break, the risk that the head will suddenly come off is very small anyway. Wood handles can be replaced when worn. As wood is a natural material, it should retain its own moisture. Therefore, the hammer should not be stored in an excessively dry place. Handles made from fibreglass Handles with fibreglass core are both durable and safe; the risk of breakage and injuries is reduced to a minimum. They are weathertight and resistant to the most common chemicals.
